Hello National Honor Society members!
We're sure you're all aware that December is a busy time for the entire school as we find ourselves involved in various activities surrounding Hearts of Gold. We encourage you to participate in any way you can. It's for a good cause!
Along with that thought, there will not be a regular second Wednesday meeting this month. Instead, we are going to get NHS involved with Hearts of Gold. Service hours for December will come from participating in our night for Odd Jobs. That night is Friday, December 14. We will have a roll available to sign that night for those of you in attendance so that you can receive credit for your service hours.
If you cannot come that night, fear not. There is another option to get service hours logged with NHS this month. The Hearts of Gold community carnival is on Wednesday, December 12. You may sign up in Ms. Blattman's room to help at the carnival. NHS will not have a booth, but students who sign-up will help the Student Body Officers and Class officers with anything they made need help with during the carnival. Students who sign-up need to meet the SBO's in the commons at 5 p.m. that night.
Remember that service is one of the pillars of National Honor Society and recognize there are many opportunities to serve this month. Please do not limit yourselves to those service activities that we are doing in our organization. Get out and make an effort to make this holiday a happy one for someone else. We appreciate you and look forward to serving with you soon.

November Activities
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, November 14 after school in Ms. Blattman's room. We will be decorating boxes for our collection and a representative from the Festival of Trees will be coming in to talk about volunteering at the event.
For the Warmth of the Children Throughout the month of November, we will be collecting new hats, gloves, and socks. Spread the word about this great charity and do not forget that if you donate two items, it counts as an hour of service.
Festival of Trees On November 28, we will be volunteering at the Festival of Trees. If you would like to come sign up in Ms. Blattman's room. We need to be at the South Towne Expo Center at 4 pm and be there until 7. Also, parent volunteers are greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions, feel free to talk to one of our officers, Ms. James, or Ms. Blattman. Take advantage of these great opportunities to get your service hours in and we hope to see you all here!

Upcoming Events
The year is off to a great start and we are excited by how the Herriman chapter of NHS has grown. There are a couple of upcoming opportunities for service that members need to know about.
Wednesday, October 3- Parent -Teacher Conferences. We know that school will not be held this day, but our help has been requested. Last year, NHS members helped out by handing out water and snacks to the teachers, and we have the opportunity again. Sign up in Ms. Blattman's room.
Wednesday, October 10- For this months activity, we will be reading to elementary school kids. In order to participate, you must sign up in Ms. Blattman's room. If you don't sign up in advance, you won't be able to go because everyone will need to be school excused.
Both of these opportunities can count for the required 4 hours with the club. Please remember to sign up!
Also, it's important that everyone get their fees and applications in. Everyone must re-apply! We look forward to serving with you soon!

New Year!!
Welcome back fellow National Honor Society members and a warm welcome to everyone who is new. I hope everyone had a great summer and is excited to be back. Our first meeting is this week on Wednesday, September 12th after school in Ms. Blattman's room 2516. Everyone is welcome to come and spread the word to anyone else who is interested in joining NHS.
Also, do not forget to get a NHS club permission form from Ms. Blattman's room and pay a $15 dollar fee in the office. Once you get the form signed and get a receipt, bring them both back to Ms. Blattman ASAP.
There will be a sign-in sheet at each meeting that you need to sign. This will happen at every meeting and that is how we know who came. I hope to see you all there for a great activity!

Thanks Everyone for a Great Year!
Congratulations to next year's elected officers!
And now we'd like to thank you, dedicated National Honor Society members of Herriman High, for a fantastic year! We've had a lot of fun and helped a lot of people. Don't let the end of the school year mean an end to the fabulous service you have been doing. There are always opportunities to serve, from a smile to a fundraiser, to helping out at a homeless shelter; all you have to do is look.
