Service Opportunity

In January we will have ten students from China visiting our school for five days. They will attend classes with a student and follow their daily schedule. All of the students coming speak English and are honor students. If you would like to escort one of these students for a day, see Ms. Blattman ASAP. The visit dates are January 23, 24, and 27-29.

- We have Odd Jobs with the SBO'S on Wednesday December 11 and that will be at 5 p.m.
 We need as many people as possible for that so please move around your schedules so we can get a lot of people there.

Coming Up...
This week on Wednesday we have a meeting after school- at 2:40- please come and stay for the activity we have planned
On that note this week we are being involved in a program called...

 Thanksgiving "Unplugged"-For more information about the program visit

- we will be creating posters and pledge reminders at the meeting so we can get the word out the week before Thanksgiving- and get as many people as possible to participate.

Also coming up we have odd jobs next month- so stay posted for the days and try and get as involved as possible when the time comes around.

 Festival of Trees is coming up on December 4th- at the meeting on Wednesday we will be having a representative come and speak to us about the requirements needed to participate this year and what will be expected of you.

Hey guys,
Hope this new school year has been going good for everyone. Thanks to all those who were able to come and help with Parent Teacher Conferences- it was a great help and hopefully you guys got in some good hours!
We just have a couple of reminders:
This Wednesday the 16th we have our meeting for October and we will have an activity afterwards, we are going to be writing letters to the solders these will be sent in care packages to the U S military through the program operationgratitude.com . The meeting starts right at 2:30 and the activities usually go till about 3:30- if you can't stay for the activity no worries just try and come to the meeting. Also if you can bring any Bennie babies or stuffed animals that would be greatly appreciated.
Also applications are due back by October 31, with your payment of $15, please pay this in the main office and get your receipts back to Mrs. Blattman as soon as possible. Everyone must reapply- every year- so make sure this gets done!!

Looking Ahead

As the school year winds down, these are the remaining meetings for NHS. If you still are in need of more service hours, these are the last opportunities to get them. We hope to see you there!

Thursday, April 4^th, 15 students needed to judge science fair at Daybreak Elementary. You will leave the school at 12:45 and be back at 2:25. You must have your own transportation. You will receive two service hours for this activity. Sign up in room 2516.

Wednesday, April 10^th, regular meeting after school, room 2516.

Wednesday, May 8^th, final meeting, election of officers for next year. Outside service hours will be turned in. Seniors with all their service hours completed will bring a check for $20 for the NHS collar for graduation. The check will be returned at graduation when the collar is turned back in.

*updated* Monday, May 13th , The administration has asked NHS to provide servers for the Senior Award Night dinner. This will be your final opportunity to get group service hours. You can come for the entire night (about 5 to 9). You can come and serve ( 5 to 7) Or you can come for the clean up ( 7 to 8:30). Lots of help will be needed. You will need to dress nice (but no heels for the girls). So come out that Monday to the cafeteria and help out! Let Ms. Blattman know if you can help!

Spreading the Love

Alright, we have many activities this February that you can all be a part of. Make sure to at least sign up for one thing this month and remind your friends to check the blog and come to the activities. For any questions, feel free to ask Ms. Blattman or any of the officers.

1. On Wednesday, February 13 we will have our usual meeting. We will be doing a Valentines Day activity in Ms. Blattman's room right after school. Be sure to come, especially because we will take a group picture for the yearbook. Spread the word so that all members can be in the picture.

2. Also on Wednesday, February 13 will be Sophmore orientation. If you want to help hand out packets for next years sophmores then sign up in Ms. Blattmans room for a time. It will go on from 4:30 to 7:30 pm but you only have to be there for an hour.

3. On Wednesday, February 27 we need members to come help at parent teacher conference. We will be helping parents take an online survey when they come in to the building. We will be needing lots of help for this one so do not forget to sign up in Ms. Blattman's room for a time slot. Parent teacher confernces will go from 12:00 to 8:00 pm.

Don't forget to spread the love this February by serving others!

Sophmores and January Meeting

Sophmores are now eligible to join NHS! If you are interested or know a sophmore who is, pick up an application form from Ms. Blattman's room, pay the $15 fee in the main office, and bring your receipt and your signed form to Ms. Blattman. Don't forget to look at the qualifications to see if you qualify to be in the club.

Wednesday January 16, 2013 will be our meeting for all members of NHS. Please get the word out and thank you for serving!
